Unity ASCA Delivers Extra
Trains for Skerries
Following on-going engagement with Irish Rail,
Skerries Community Association is delighted to announce that it
has secured five new train services for Skerries, beginning December
11th, 2005.
The SCA are particularly delighted to have delivered
two new peak morning services to Dublin, at 07.20am and at 07.50am.
These additional trains will provide extra capacity and some relief
for Skerries peak morning-time commuters.
There will also be a new later evening service
leaving Skerries for Dublin at 22.25pm each day of the week to
accommodate those wishing to travel or return to Dublin at a later
time.
To complement the new morning trains, there will
also be two new evening trains from Dublin to Skerries. A new
18.40 service will run non-stop from Connolly to Skerries, and
a new 20.25 from Pearse will fill a gap in the current schedule.
These new evening services will run Monday to Saturday.
The SCA has been actively engaged with Iarnrod
Eireann since last year with a view to finding ways of improving
the train service in the short term. The SCA wishes to thank Iarnrod
Eireann for their cooperation and professional engagement in achieving
these results.
The SCA will continue to work with Iarnrod Eireann
and local and government representatives to lobby for further
improvements in the rail service. This will include improvements
in weekend and late night services, as well as the planning and
investment that is required to support increasing demand. |
