In aid of Skerries Soundwaves3 festival

The Skerries Community Association (SCA) is again planning to hold an arts and music festival in September 2006. It will be the third such event, following the inaugural Skerries Soundwaves festival in 2004 and last year’s successful Soundwaves2.

Soundwaves3 will take place on September 21st – 24th 2006, around the autumn equinox.

We want to celebrate festival theme ‘Equinox’ in a range of participative and audience events across four days, including dedicated children’s events, using a host of art forms, (visual, music, dance) with local and international artists using a variety of novel and dedicated art venues. Integration (across age and income groups, ability/disability as well as across nationalities) is a key concern.

It is early days yet, but the Soundwaves committee, which is a subcommittee of the SCA, has been working away virtually since the end of last year’s event. It is hoped that the Soundwaves3 programme *) will include:

	Schools programme in all primary schools and secondary school
	Launch of Sharing Our Rhymes book of Skerries international nursery rhymes
	A Classical Night in Vienna
	Autumn Equinox celebration with fires on Skerries island
	Festival Fun Afternoon Rock Music from a Trailer, Workshops: drumming, dance, fabric, animation Local buskers of all nationalities Surprises at every corner
	Soundwaves3 Concert Featuring the best of local talent and a show stopping guest act
	Lambert Puppet Theatre
	Spectacular Classical Afternoon in Ardgillan
