Sharing Our Rhymes – Book with International Children's Rhymes on Sale in Skerries now!
Just in time for Christmas, an ideal stocking filler has hit the shops in Skerries: For a mere €5, Sharing Our Rhymes can be purchased at Skerries Bookshop and in the craft shop at Skerries Mills. And what an enchanting, fascinating, and wonderful book it is! Over the last three years, 25 rhymes were collected from people from all over the world who are now living in and around Skerries. Local author Marie Bashford-Synnott then went to those who contributed rhymes not originally in English, and worked with the contributors on an English version of these. All 25 rhymes were then illustrated by young artists of the Skerries arts school, directed by Denyze Joyce. The result is a slim volume bursting with folk wisdom from all over the world. Our pictures show Minister of State Trevor Sargent TD, Marie Bashford Synnott and others at the recent launch in the Little Theatre, Skerries Community Centre. The book was grant-aided by the National Action Plan Against Racism, the publication is a project of Skerries Community Association, and any profits from the book will go into future SCA integration projects.
