Fingal County Council at work in Skerries

Control of dogs and horses

The council contract out the dog warden service to Ashton Kennels, River Road, Castleknock. Any complaints about attacks by dogs or strays should be reported to the council and they will instruct the dog warden from Aston Kennels to investigate immediately.

A similar situation exists for dealing with complaints about horses. The council will instruct the contractor LAS in Dunboyne to investigate. In the case of strays, the animals are taken to the horse pound in Urlingford Co Kilkenny. Owners may reclaim horses upon payment of a fee. Such horses are micro-chipped so that they may be identified if they stray in future.
