Maintaining our Green Spaces

All public open spaces (except for road-side margins) and outdoor recreational facilities owned by the council in Skerries are regularly maintained by the council's Parks Division. This maintenance includes:

Cutting the grass - once a fortnight during summer months
Collecting litter
Planting trees
Maintaining pitches (1 at the ballast pit and 4 in the Town Park), bowling green, tennis courts and all weather pitch

Looking after flower-beds and trees

The flowerbeds at the Library, Monument, Roundabout and Thomas Hand Street are planted and maintained. Parks Division also look after all roadside trees on footpaths and grass margins. Contact: Parks Division at Fingal County Council at 890 5000.

Improving the playground at Red Island

The condition of the six swings will be assessed shortly to see if they need to be replaced. The council have been working to eliminate the drainage problem under the swings. This problem caused a lot of wet and cold feet earlier in the year.
