When
Crann Phadraig was established in 1989 the hope was to foster
a community spirit by encouraging local schools, clubs and community
groups, to plant trees provided by Crann Phadraig, to enhance
the community of Skerries.
Today,
and over 1000 trees planted later, that hope has become a reality.
Members of the community of Skerries have embraced this idea and
have planted trees in and around the town of Skerries. In so doing,
we continue not only to cultivate beautiful native trees, but
also a greater awareness of our eco system and a respect of nature.
Recently
Crannn Phadraig were delighted to be the sponsors of the Green
Schools Network launch that took place on April 27th at
Skerries Mill.
Our tree nursery at Ardla, near Skerries is a partnership between
Crann Phadraig and Fingal County Council. We have received a number
of awards over the years, including the National and Fingal County
Council Environmental awards, for our work in raising awareness
of native trees.
Crann
Phadraig is a voluntary organisation and has received sponsorship
from Iarnrod Eireann, E.S.B. and Eircom, as well as various individuals.
