Location
and Environs
Ardgillan
is situated on the elevated coastline between Balbriggan and Skerries,
20 miles north of Dublin city. It is unique among Dublin's Regional
Parks for the magnificent views it enjoys of the coastline. A
panorama, taking in Rockabill Lighthouse, Colt, Church, Shenick
and Lambay Islands may be seen from several places in the park.
On most days the Cooley and Mourne mountains, some forty miles
north of Ardgillan may be seen, including Slieve Gullion, which
is 1,894 feet (579 metres) in height.

The
Demesne consists of 78.5 hectares (194 acres) of rolling pastureland,
mixed woodland and gardens, overlooking the Bay of Drogheda. Ardgillan
is a sanctuary for many species of mammals and birds for which
the densely wooded grounds provide a safe retreat from surrounding
agricultural land.
