SCA submission to draft Fingal Development Plan 2011-2017

The closing date for submissions to the draft Fingal Development Plan was Monday 14th June 2010. The Board of the SCA sent in a submission and you can view it in the attached file.

Our Board is broadly in favour of the Council's proposed strategy and objectives for Skerries. However, in recent years there has been a lot of emphasis on and interest in, creating sustainability and resilience in Skerries. We wanted the plan to reflect this aspiration and in our submission, we suggested appropriate changes to the wording and requested that several new objectives be added.

Upgrade of Car Park at Skerries Community Centre

As you may have noticed, the car park in the Community Centre is currently getting a long overdue upgrade for health and safety reasons.

Although the Community Centre remains open for business, the car park is closed for the duration of the project. We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes.

Read on for details about the project and some additional (and relevant!) information clarifying the legal relationships between Skerries Community Association Ltd, the Board of Management of the Community Centre and Fingal County Council. All of these were involved in bringing the project to fruition.

The car park upgrade will involve:

Bathing Water Quality - Latest Results

Latest results from Captains, Springers and Ovens show good quality water, see attached table. I have included South beach results as well. We hope to include a sample from the North beach for our next sampling date 14/6/2010. Thanks again to the samplers.

Allotments, Sustainable Skerries “Walking the Land”delayed, next scheduled date 26th June

We have had to delay “Walking the Land” at the allotments until Saturday 26th June, at 10am. This delay is due to the contractors employed by Fingal Co Co not being able to carry out essential work on time.

All going well on Sat 26th, we hope to assemble at the Skerries Mills car park to meet for a briefing in the Mills, then walk up to the allotments site on the Golf Links Road.
